About the group
The Ipswich & District Group of Advanced Motorists, which is a Registered Charity, has as its main aim the promotion and advancement of road safety through the improvement of driving standards. This is achieved by preparing people for the Institute of Advanced Motorists Advanced Driving Test. The Group has been doing this since 1960 and during that time hundreds of people have successfully passed the Advanced Driving Test. The Group has close links with the Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists.
The Group operates a policy of equal opportunities and Associate membership is open to anyone of any age providing they hold a current valid UK driving licence and at the time of taking the Test must have no more than eight penalty points.
We cover the whole of the Suffolk post code area as well as some parts of the CO, CB and NR post code areas.
We operate a comprehensive Skill for Life programme leading to taking the Advanced Driving Test. For those who just want their driving checked without preparing for the Test we provide a DriveCheck assessment.
Where does the group meet?
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month throughout the year except January, July, August and December, usually at The Cedars Hotel, Stowmarket, starting at 8.00pm. Full details of events and locations can be found on our events page. These meeting are informal and non members are most welcome.
Speakers are invited talk on a variety of subjects and at least once a year one of our Examiners will talk about the Advanced Driving Test and what they expect.
